SOULFLY

Brazilian heavy metal songwriter, guitarist and singer Max Cavalera formed the band in 1997, following his split with Sepultura in 1996, and the death of his stepson Dana Wells. The lineup consisted of former Thorn and Nausea drummer Roy Mayorga from New York, guitarist Jackson Bandeira from Chico Science & Nacoa Zumbi former Sepultura roadie Marcello Dias from The Mist on bass, and Cavalera on guitar and vocals. Prior to forming Soulfly, Max Cavalera made a guest appearance on the second Deftones' studio album, Around the Fur in 1997, on the song "Headup". This song is about Wells' death, and it is said that Cavalera got the name for the band from the lyrics of this song.

Soulfly is a heavymetal band formed in 1997 in Arizona. Led by founder, frontman, songwriter and only constant member Brazilian Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left influental Brazilian death/trash band Sepultura in 1996. The band has released six studio albums, one tourEP several singles, and one DVD video.

Soulfly incorporates diverse Nu metal, trash metal, and heavy metal styles with Brazilian tribal and world music. The band has had all six of their studio albums debut on the United States Billboard 200 with a peak position at number 32 with their second album Primitiveand their debut album Soulfly, has been certified goldby the Recording Industry Association of America. The band has gone through numerous line-up changes, but the line-up has been stable since 2004, Prophecy.

Mudvayne formed in 1996 with Chad Gray, Greg Tribbet, Matthew McDonough, and Shawn Barclay.In the beginning the band wanted to be a Rap Metal group, eventually, they adopted more melodic lines and released their demo, Kill, I Oughtta. In 1998, then bassist Shawn Barclay was replaced by current bassist Ryan Martinie. Mudvayne is an American rock band that have Alternative Metal, Heavy Metal, Nu Metal, and Progressive Metal influence in their music. Formed in Peoria, Illinois. Signed onto Epic Records, Mudvayne has released four studio albums, two compilations albums, and two DVDs.

Mudvayne rose to fame in 2000 with their debut album L.D. 50, which peaked at number 85 on the Billboard 200, and has since been certified gold by the RIAA. The lead single from the album, "Dig", won the MTV2 Award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2001. This was also the first time the award was ever presented to a metal band. In 2006 Mudvayne was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the Grammy Awards for the single "Determined" from the band's 2005 studio album Lost and Found. Mudvayne has four gold certifications by the RIAA, and has sold nearly three million albums in the United States.

Mudvayne is known for performing a technical style of music which they have referred to as "math rock". Mudvayne was influenced by performers such as Emperor, King Crimson and Porcupine Tree. Mudvayne's musical style incorporates elements of death metal, speed metal, hardcore punk and progressive rock. Mudvayne's musical style has been described as alternative metal,extreme metal, heavy metal,neo-progressive rock,nu metal, progressive metal, shock rock and thrash metal.

As I Lay Dying is an American metalcore band from san diego california formed in 2000. Their band name derives from the novel by William Faulkner with the same tittle. Formed in 2000 by Tim Lambesis and having completed their first Line-up in 2001, the band's line-up consists of vocalist Tim Lambesis, drummer Jordan Mancino, lead guitarist Nick Hipa, rhythm guitarist Phil Sgrosso, and bassist Josh Gilbert, all of whom are christian. Signed to Metal Blade Records, As I Lay Dying has released four studio albums, one spilt album and one compilation album.

As I Lay Dying's 2007 release An Ocean Betweeb Us peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200, and number 1 on the Top Rock chart. The band has performed at Wacken Open Air, With Full Source, Soundwave Festival, Sounds Of The Underground,Warped Tour, and Taste Of Chaos. In 2007, As I Lay Dying won the "Ultimate Metal God" award from MTV2 at the first annual "All That Rocks" special, was named "Artist of the Year" at the San Diego Music Awards in 2008 and was nominated for a 2008 Grammy Awards for the song "Nothing Left".
